Scripture: “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him…” – Romans 8:28
Pain is a universal part of life. But for the believer, pain is never wasted. God uses it to refine, redirect, and reveal His purpose in our lives. Sometimes what we see as a setback is actually a setup for greater glory.
Joseph’s story in Genesis 37–50 illustrates this perfectly. Betrayed by his brothers, sold into slavery, falsely accused, and imprisoned—his journey was full of pain. Yet, God used every moment to position him for influence and to save many lives. Joseph later declared, “You meant evil against me, but God meant it for good” (Genesis 50:20).
Your pain has purpose. Whether it’s loss, betrayal, failure, or illness, God is able to bring beauty from ashes. Pain teaches us compassion, deepens our dependence on God, and helps us minister to others who hurt.
Romans 5:3–5 reminds us that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. So even when you can’t understand the “why,” trust that God is working behind the scenes.
Bring your pain to Him in prayer. Pour it out honestly, but don’t stop there—listen for His response. His comfort is real, and His plans are redemptive. Your pain can become your testimony.
